The purpose of NIBS is to create a welcoming community in which God works to form His people by integrating spiritual, academic, and experiential learning rooted in his Word, for growth in Christian life and service, locally and around the world. NIBS, with its motto ‘Equipping God’s People to Impact God’s World’ is a theological institution founded on Matthew 28:18–20. And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Our purpose is to serve the church of Jesus Christ by training young men and women to walk with God, to interpret and communicate God’s Word, and to minister to God’s people. We train people to serve the multi-faceted mission needs of the church, to perform with a high sense of commitment, integrity, and on-going growth in the Word of God to see the Kingdom of God advance across nations and cultures. With this aim, we provide quality theological education in a mission-focused setting, emphasising the development of Bible knowledge and practical mission, thus preparing the individual for a lifetime of learning God’s Word and involvement in God’s mission.
Philosophy
NIBS is dedicated to excellence in theological education, which is attainable only if theology makes a direct impact on the mission in and outside of the church community. Paul, the apostle, exhorts in the book of I Timothy 4:16 “Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; continue in these things, for in doing this you will save both yourself and your hearers.” The educational philosophy followed is the CBTL model, which offers a perfect blend of holistic formation for the individual, interconnecting academic, spiritual, and ministerial development. The 5C- 4D ConneXions Model of training aspects is also followed and reflected on for quality enhancement in the yearly assessment of theological practice. We expect our students to progressively demonstrate attitudes, conduct, and spiritual growth compatible with the example set by the Lord Jesus Christ. NIBS believes that the teaching-learning environment exerts a powerful influence on the individual’s values, behavior, and vision.

Obligated by the authority of Christ, captivated by His commands and motivated by His promises, every student must march ahead witnessing under the power of the Holy Spirit, leading people to the discipleship of Jesus Christ ad multiplying disciples all over the world. NIBS employs multiple programs and training strategies to advance mission and evangelism in India and South Asia.
